FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Friend,

This has been a very exciting year! In May, two Advent Christian students received Masters’ degrees from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Daniel Karl earned his MATS (Master of Arts in Theological Studies) from Gordon-Conwell’s Charlotte, NC campus. Daniel is on the pastoral staff at Northside Community Church in Knightdale, NC and will plant a semi-autonomous daughter church next spring. Laura Pitcher, a member of the Stroudwater Church in Portland, Maine earned her Masters of Arts in Counseling from Gordon-Conwell’s South Hamilton, MA campus. Laura is pursuing state licensing and plans to use her studies to provide mental health counseling and Christian counseling to individuals inside and outside of the church. Three additional students are currently enrolled at the seminary. Berkshire’s partnership with Gordon-Conwell is a tremendous resource for Advent Christian people, supported by your prayers and through your giving!

In August, 120 alumni and friends gathered together in western North Carolina to celebrate Berkshire Christian’s 125th Anniversary. This event, delayed for a year due to ongoing Covid concerns, was a most memorable occasion enjoyed by all in attendance. It reminded me that no matter where people live, what they are currently doing, or the period of time they spent at BCC, all are united by their connection to this beloved institution, whether alumni, family of alumni, friends or faithful supporters.

Berkshire Christian’s Board of Trustees held several meetings this year in-person and via Zoom, devoting significant time to discuss the future of this beloved institution. While the Lord has closed the door on several potential scenarios under consideration over the past year, the board continues to wait on the Lord’s leading under the firm conviction that the future of Berkshire Christian is firmly in His hands. The financial resources entrusted to Berkshire by faithful supporters of this ministry have made it possible to maintain the Berkshire Professor chair at Gordon-Conwell, as well as a Scholarship Fund for Berkshire students at the seminary. These monies have also provided scholarships to MTI students. Without your generosity, these vital ministries could not continue.

As this year comes to a close and a New Year begins, thank you for praying for Berkshire Christian. Only the Lord knows what 2024 will bring. By His grace Berkshire Christian will continue to bring glory to God and play a vital role in preparing men and women for gospel ministry in and through the local church. Please pray regularly for Berkshire Christian. As the Lord directs, your financial gifts in support of this work are greatly appreciated!

Soli Deo Gloria,

Dr. Glenn M. Rice, President
