Where Are They Now? Mike Alix

Mike Alix – Berkshire Christian College, Class of 1962

Tell us about yourself?

I have B.S. in Youth Ministry from Nyack College and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Seminary, through the Center of Advent Christian Studies (Berkshire).  I also attended The Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies.

I love Jesus and my Church.  I have served as the Senior Pastor at Blessed Hope in Waterville ME since 2010, prior to that, I served as the youth pastor. I am currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Berkshire Christian.

I desire to see everyone — families and singles, young and old, poor and rich, all races and ethnicity — to live lives transformed by the Gospel and to think with biblically transformed minds (Romans 12:2).

I am married to Erica and have three young sons: Joseph, Gideon, and Asher.

What are your favorite memories from your time in school?

The relationships both from classes and working on campus. Really the relationships and camaraderie made the academics more palatable, haha.

How have you seen the Lord use your training?

Honestly, He used to give me pause as to whether I really should be in ministry. Through a few things, God confirmed that I need to slow down and go with the flow and not make assumptions about my readiness. He definitely had me deal with some sin in my heart and life (which I still have to battle today, I am not one of the lucky ones to have miraculous instant freedom and sinlessness in areas). I will say humility was the biggest one. Many people may come out of school feeling more knowledgeable and ready to take on the world for Jesus…I came our realizing I am just a drop in the pastoral bucket and it is only by God’s grace will I have any positive impact, small or large!

Thank you for the interview Mike!
