This course explores the power and truth of God’s unfolding story as written in the books of the Old Testament. The course provides students with a holistic overview of the Old Testament and major elements of the narratives shared from Genesis to Malachi as primeval and patriarchal histories, the Exodus, monarchies, and the messages of the prophets and the Exilic period are revealed and interpreted.

A biblical worldview and God’s dealing with His people are a focus while understanding the culture and history of the ancient Near East and how this impacts our understanding of His message for us. The literary qualities and messages of individual books are emphasized for a deeper understanding of the Scripture.
